Surface Waves and Forced Oscillations in QHE Planar Samples
نویسندگان
چکیده
Dispersion relations and polarizations for surface waves in infinite planar samples in the QHE regime are explicitly determined in the small wavevector limit in which the dielectric tensor can be considered local. The wavelength and frequency regions of applicability of the results extends to the infrared region for typical experimental conditions. Then, standard samples with millimetric sizes seem to be able to support such excitations. Forced oscillations are also determined which should be generated in the 2DEG by external electromagnetic sources. They show an almost frequency independent wavevelength which decreases with the magnetic field. A qualitative model based in these solutions is also presented to describe a recently found new class of resonances appearing near the edge of a 2DEG in the QHE regime. ∗Permanent Address: Grupo de F́ısica Teórica, Instituto de Cibernética, Matemática y F́ısica, Calle E, No. 309, Esq. a 15, Vedado, La Habana 4, Cuba

On the Surface Waves and Forced Oscillations in QHE Planar Samples
The dispersion relations and polarizations for the surface waves on infinite planar samples in QHE regime are explicitly determined in the small wavevector limit in which the dielectric tensor can be considered as local. The wavelength and frequency regions of applicability of the results extends up to the infrared region for typical experimental conditions. Then, standard samples with millimet...
متن کاملForced oscillations of a damped Korteweg-de Vries equation on a periodic domain
In this paper, we investigate a damped Korteweg-de Vries equation with forcing on a periodic domain $mathbb{T}=mathbb{R}/(2pimathbb{Z})$. We can obtain that if the forcing is periodic with small amplitude, then the solution becomes eventually time-periodic.
متن کاملTraveling Waves of Some Symmetric Planar Flows of Non-Newtonian Fluids
We present some variants of Burgers-type equations for incompressible and isothermal planar flow of viscous non-Newtonian fluids based on the Cross, the Carreau and the power-law rheology models, and on a symmetry assumption on the flow. We numerically solve the associated traveling wave equations by using industrial data and in order to validate the models we prove existence and uniqueness of ...
متن کاملFree and Forced Rossby Waves in the Western South China Sea Inferred from Jason-1 Satellite Altimetry Data
Data from a subsurface mooring deployed in the western South China Sea shows clear intra-seasonal oscillations (ISO) at the period of 40~70 days. Analysis of remotelysensed sea surface height (SSH) anomalies in the same area indicates that these ISO signals propagate both eastward and westward. Time-longitude diagrams of ISO signals in SSH anomalies and wind-stress curl indicate that the eastwa...
متن کاملAcoustic-Mean Flow Interaction in Solid Propellant Rocket Motors
There are several sources for pressure oscillations in solid propellant rocket motors. Oscillatory flow field is one of them. Free shear layers in motor flow field cause vortex shedding. End edges of propellant grains and baffle edge in two-segmented motors are samples of such zones. These vortices move from their forming points and strike the field walls. The kinetic energy of vortices change ...
